Swallows

Swallows nesting above the Sacramento River.
Day 1 on the road:  It was really really hot.  A dry heat we're not used to on the coast.  We picked a nearby river off the map and ended up at Woodson Bridge State Recreation Area in Corning, CA.  The river was ice cold but the three of us where so thankful to cool off.  Above us thousands of swallows zipped through the air carefully landing in their own mud nest to bring food to their young.  We witnessed natural selection as many young birds fell into the river and drown.  Sad but it is the way of nature.
