The Great Mt. Shasta

Mt. Shasta, CA

Mt. Shasta! What an amazingly beautiful piece of nature. We began our hike at the Bunny Flats parking lot. We frolicked among the snow for two miles to Horse Camp. A grueling 950 ft. climb. Not. It was a serene hike.  Just what we needed to move out some stale energy that built up while driving.  We met many kind folk up on the mountain.  Most people take two days to complete the hike to the summit (14,180 ft.), which seems extraordinary considering the inline and high elevation.  We look forward to experiencing the full hike someday.
A local women from Mt. Shasta City tipped us off to a great, gushing spring of water just outside of  town. We discovered that the spring is actually the headwater for the Sacramento River.  People come and go to to this spring to gather pure water, and find peace of mind. It is a celebration of life. We spent 3 hours there and met many a wonderful people as we gorged on pure, delicious, water straight out of the mountain!
